Mozart and the Whale (Movie)
This film is based around the life of Jerry and Mary Newport and shows the love story of two individuals with Aspergers syndrome. The movie is very well done and the actors should be credited for being able to draw the viewer into the mind set of the characters. If anyone is interested in how relationships can develop between people on the spectrum or are just looking for a twist on the typical romantic drama or romantic comedy I definitely recommend seeing this film.
With the Light- 8 volume Manga series by Keiko Tobe
This is a wonderful 8 volume manga of Japanese graphic novel series. I only read the first volume and cannot begin to summarize how wonderful the series is. A synopsis for each of the five novels can be found through the yen press weblink below:
My opinion of the first graphic novel is that it is beyond fantastic! It truly illustrates the emotional ups and downs of what a mother of a child on the autism spectrum goes through and the story is even more unique because it delves into the realm of living with this condition outside the United States of Europe; something I have rarely if ever seen media portrayals of. The art style is pleasant and the layout of the first volume was easy to follow. A series that chronicles the life of a mother from the time her child is born and into his teens makes this series even more compelling and valuable.
